    Sturdy well constructed I like the item, my only issue is that it does not have a tripod mount. I purchsed it so I culd use it to connect hand strap and camera shoulder strap on ither side. Probably not its intended use. So I need to remove it to use a tripod. 4These Desmond plates are great quality at a fraction of the cost These Desmond plates are great quality at a fraction of the cost. I use these plates in particular because of the strap bosses. They work perfectly with the OP-TECH strap system for a sling strap or having a quick way to secure your gear to a monopod or tripod just in case your head or something should ever fail. I often carry my monopod over my shoulder and with the added strap connection its cheap insurance. Black rapid straps fit also. 5Quality Construction & Excellent Performance You can certainly spend a lot more for an Arca Swiss compatible plate. But when it comes to performance, it's going to be awfully hard to improve on Desmond products. Desmond has earned a reputation for well machined and finished clamps and plates that compete with pricier brands. This plate is no exception. RRS compatible, the materials, machining and anodizing is all very good. Yes, you can get some that have thick, luscious anodizing, and are extra oversized to give you a sense that your hundred dollars is well spent.I have some of the very best support products available, and I just don't hesitate to buy Desmond. This is a durable plate that does everything it's supposed to do - including not be noticed. Desmond has replaced Sunwayfoto as my previous go-to clamp and plate choice. No surprise they distribute Sunwayfoto as well!I bought this particular plate to live on my Tamron 150-600. Its extra length fits the foot of the collar perfectly. Since I have L brackets on all my bodies the regular plates that came with my ball heads are usually in their box all wrapped up. Desmond makes it easy to have and carry plates for specific purposes, so there's no excuse to not have exactly what you need.Pros:- Good Machining- RRS compatible (high profile)- Twin strap bosses- included stopper studs- allen wrenchCons- Anodizing could be more robust- D ring stud would be nice- Slightly narrow footprint (perfect for RRS, other lever clamps will need adjusting)Bottom line, great performing product at an affordable price. The beauty of plates is you can't see them when they're being used, so why worry? Go ahead and spend more if you wish, I simply cannot tell a difference between this and some of my boutique brands out in the field.For $13, the materials, fit and finish are outstanding. Perfectly fine plate, appropriate for attaching a hand strap to a camera, without a vertical grip. Also, a great fit for the Spider Pro Plate for the Spider Holster system. Just add a second screw :)PRO:-Finish: smooth, consistent black.-Machining: consistent and smooth, clearly made well. No mold lines, rough edges, or significant tooling marks (any marks are purely superficial).-Screw slots: different positions for different applications. Able to take 2 screws at the same time, for an extremely snug fit with a minimum of rotation. 2-screw fit is a good idea for lenses with Tripod collars, assuming their screw holes line up with the slots on this plate.-Universal: anti-rotation provided by rubber pads rather than a lip. Should fit anything that has a 1/4" 20 thread.-Inexpensive! less than half the price of many competitors.-Great fit for the Spider Pro Plate, part of the Spider Holster system. The plate offers threads to attach tripod plates, and Spider offers a dedicated plate for those holes, but it is very expensive. This plate fits about as well, and in the same spot, while costing less than half as much.-Safety: has arca-type safety screws, to prevent a loose clamp from introducing your camera to the ground at 9.80665 m/s .CON: (note: these are very minor criticisms, not major problems)-rubber on top, rather than an anti-rotation lip. rubber doesn't work as well as silicone, cork, or a lip. Rubber has an odor, too.-only 1 screw included, despite 3 holes (only 2 of which can be used concurrently)-when used on a spider plate, the design of this plate will block the removal of the spider plate. Other plate designs would permit access to the spider plate's screw hole (and since it uses a Hex key, and the screw is captive, such an access hole would not need to be large).Really, there's nothing wrong with this plate. It's basic. It works as intended. My criticisms are specific to my application. If you're looking for a generic / universal tripod plate to use with any random camera, this is a good choice. If you're looking for a way to attach your hand strap, this is a good choice. If you're a spider holster user, this is a good choice. 4Great build on Desmond products Desmond sells quality made photo products at realistic prices. 5Excellent build quality Excellent build quality. Just what I needed to mount one end of my camera sling strap to. For those of you with a Panasonic Lumix FZ300/330 looking for a QR plate that won't interfere with opening that camera's battery/memory card door, the DBT-60 will allow you to do that if you grind or file off one of its camera strap's mounting lugs. (The DBT-60 is made of aluminum.) The way I did it, I ground off the lug to the left of the horizontal slot and applied a couple of coats of flat-black paint to the ground off edge. After mounting the plate on the camera, slide it all the way to the right (so as the mounting screw is directly below the "DTB-60" printed on the bottom of the plate see attached photo). The removed camera strap lug then allows the access door to open and close freely while the camera is still mounted onto the tripod. The remaining lug allows me to attach my sling strap, which I then carry over my left shoulder. Works perfectly for my needs. Oh, and don't forget to carry a two-bit piece in your pocket to tighten/loosen the mounting screw. (The DTB-60 s included Allen wrench can also be used to mount and unmount the plate, but a quarter won't poke a hole in your pocket like the Allen wrench might.) 5great value Good materials and excellent workmanship, comparable to more expensive brands. 5One Serious Flaw ! ONE SERIOUS FLAW! The sample I received had SHARP edges on the inside of the strap bosses. No question in my mind that those sharp edges will cut through a strap or Peak Design cord in no time sending your camera crashing to the ground. Was very disappointed as one reviewer stated that was nicely machined with smooth edges, etc. Not so with the one I received. Gave it two stars as it will work fine as an Arca Swiss plate as long as you are not attaching a strap to it. 2Very handy product. I leave this attached to my camera for quick attachment to my tripod. I am very happy with this product. 5Simple and Effective bit of Kit... I would have liked it to have cost less, but I am at this point essentially satisfied with my purchase. It is currently serving its purpose allowing me to attach a wrist strap to the base plate and simultaneously mount it to the arcs-swiss ball head mount for my tripod or monopod. The original adapter that attached the wrist strap to my GH4 utilized the tripod tread on the bottom and had no solution for using any of my quick release heads in conjunction...Another reason I chose this item is with the wrist strap attached to this base plate at bottom of the camera, it allows room enough for me to access the battery compartment of the GH4. But now that I have added a battery grip to he camera I may need a longer base plate version of this. but in the mean time this one works well.Only time will tell if this product hold up, but so far it seems it will... 4
